Residue Mouth examines action, word and sculpture through interventions, shapes and ungraspable and primal materials such as oil, a cavity, its volume and planes, food and the body. It addresses the coercion of space, questioning and dealing with the issues of the ending of a work, temporality, error and estrangement.

RESIDUE MOUTH Installation at MARCO

An industrial depot used to store liquid waste is quartered and installed in the museum on the space of the panopticon.

INSECT. TALL. CAVITY Action at MARCO

The artist opens his mouth and spits the food he has previously chewed from the first floor of the panopticon to the ground, onto a dead insect whose carcass had previously been extracted. A taller man stands next to him.

MEN IN MORNING Action at MARCO

Every morning throughout the duration of the exhibition, an unknown man by the artist, chosen by a cafeteria in the city of Vigo, is invited to his breakfast.

TO FREEZE OIL Installation at LABoral

Oil is frozen in an industrial container in one of the spaces of LABoral, in Gijon, starting on the same day as the opening of  Presencia Activa [Active Presence] in MARCO, Vigo. On the opening day at LABoral, the container is turned upside down, leaving it in that position throughout the duration of the exhibition, continuing with the oil-freezing process and, from that time onwards, being part of the Comida [Food] action.

FOOD Action at LABoral

Over the span of two weeks during the exhibition, the artist cooks food (equivalent to a daily individual intake) at his studio in Madrid and lets it burn. Once burnt and pressed through a metal sieve, he empties two litres of water over it. The resulting liquid is then photographed and periodically sent to LABoral to be projected, on reception, onto one of the walls of the inverted frozen-oil container and onto the floor. The photos of the liquids will afterwards be printed in a limited edition.

BOOK. ESTRANGEMENT Action at LABoral

A man taller than the artist uses his finger and his saliva to draw circles on one hundred sheets of paper. The tall man takes a sheet and spits saliva on it. Then he makes a circle using the saliva. The action was carried out during the opening of Presencia Activa at LABoral. A single publication titled Libro Extrañamiento [Book estrangement] including all the original images will be produced.

RESIDUO. BOCA en el marco de la exposición colectiva Presencia activa. Acción, Objeto y Público conecta el espacio del MARCO de Vigo y LABoral con la esfera pública mediante una serie de acciones orquestadas en diferentes lugares. Estas acciones investigan sobre la semántica de la escultura bajo los conceptos de inserción y receptáculo, irreversibilidad y residuo.

Tales conceptos se manifiestan en las siguientes acciones:

RESIDUO. BOCA  [Instalación en MARCO]  

 Desmantelamiento de un enorme depósito para líquidos, su introducción en el “sancta sanctorum” del museo, las piezas son colocadas en el suelo del Panóptico convirtiendo en superficie-plano la cavidad cilíndrica del depósito.

INSECTO. ALTO. CAVIDAD  [Acción en MARCO]  

Acción en la que el artista mastica comida acompañado de un hombre más alto que él, para verterla, dejándola caer abriendo la boca, sobre un insecto al que se le ha retirado la carcasa.

HOMBRE en MAÑANA  [Acción en MARCO]  

Un hombre desayunará cada mañana en una cafetería en la ciudad de Vigo, invitado por el Museo, durante todo el tiempo que dure la exposición.

CONGELAR ACEITE  [Instalación en LABoral]  

Un arcón industrial congela 300 litros de aceite vegetal en La Laboral de Gijón durante el tiempo que dura la exposición en el MARCO de Vigo.

COMIDA [Acción y publicación en LABoral] 

 5 de octubre de 2012 (inicio): 10 fotografías de cada uno de los líquidos obtenidos por filtradoe incluidas junto al envío de éstos, hasta un total de 10. Un proceso que durará hasta el término de la exposición.

LIBRO. EXTRAÑAMIENTO [Acción en LABoral]

Un hombre más alto que el artista dibuja, con su saliva y dedo, círculos sobre 100 papeles. El hombre alto coge uno y deja caer saliva sobre él, con su dedo construye un círculo partiendo de su saliva. Esta acción se ha llevado a cabo en la inauguración de Presencia Activa en LABoral.

Se editará una sola publicación, bajo el título Libro. Extrañamiento, que incluirán todas las imágenes originales.
